@Galway City Council will confer the Freedom of the City of Galway on local women Patricia Burke Brogan and the late Ena McEntee at a ceremony this Friday. Both women are being honoured for their involvement in the Magdalen Laundry. Patricia’s award winning play “Eclipsed” was one of the first works to shine a light on the horrendous conditions that the women were forced to live in while the late Mrs. McEntee who died in 1986, helped many of them to escape and set them up with new lives.
The ceremony will take place in the Hardiman Hotel, Eyre Square at 3.30pm
