Galway artist Patricia Kavanagh invites visitors on a spectacular visual journey along the wild Atlantic coastline in her new exhibition, From Clare To Here, running from May 15–29 at the Hall of the Red Earl, Druid Lane, Galway.
A traditional oil painter living in the west of Ireland, Patricia grew up on the shores of Galway Bay near Blackrock in Salthill, where her lifelong passion for painting began. Deeply inspired by the rugged beauty of Connemara, the Burren, and the dramatic coastline of Counties Clare and Galway, her work captures the ever-changing moods of the Atlantic landscape.
Light plays a central role throughout the exhibition – from shimmering reflections on water to brooding skies and stormy seas. Patricia’s fascination with dramatic weather, strong contrasts, and atmospheric landscapes is evident in every canvas. Working primarily in oils, she combines careful composition and rich colour with sketches and studies made outdoors to capture the authentic spirit and feeling of each place.
Influenced by the Romantic tradition and artists such as Friedrich, Constable, and Turner, Patricia’s paintings evoke both the power and poetry of the Irish west.
Visitors are invited to experience this celebration of Ireland’s untamed coastal beauty in one of Galway’s most historic venues.
