Today, Mayor Helen Ogbu addressed guests at the Hall of the Red Earl as Galway Civic Trust officially announced the renaming of its exhibition space as the Peadar O’Dowd Gallery, honouring the renowned historian, educator, and champion of Galway’s heritage. In her remarks, the Mayor reflected on Peadar O’Dowd’s lasting contribution to the city’s cultural and historical life and the importance of preserving and celebrating Galway’s rich legacy for future generations.
