National Biodiversity Week. 16-25 May, 2025.

National Biodiversity Week is celebrated each year to showcase our natural surroundings and our wildlife. It is an opportunity to explore the wildlife in our area and to connect with nature.

In our ongoing efforts to preserve and protect our natural, cultural and built heritage, we here at Galway Civic Trust / Duchas na Gaillimhe wish to mark the occasion.

Galway Civic Trust / Duchas na Gaillimhe will host a Waterways Walk on Thursday, 22 May, at 12 o’clock. This walk will take approx. 2 hours; and will give us a chance to discover some of the birds, butterflies and flowers of the area.

This is a free tour as part of our efforts to increase awareness of our waterways and our natural environment in the heart of Galway city.
