Na Lochlannaigh: Slábhaíocht in Éirínn (Vikings: Slavery in Ireland)
Na Lochlannaigh: Slábhaíocht in Éirínn (Vikings: Slavery in Ireland) is a short documentary that looks at an aspect of Irish history when Nordic maritime technology created a culture of raiding other parts of Europe. Through vivid storytelling and stunning cinematography, the documentary sheds light on the cultural and historical exchanges between the Vikings and the Irish, bringing to life the raids and trade practices of the time. The documentary was directed by Mick Hennessy and presented by Pádraig O Conghaile and includes interviews with Professor Pol Holm, Dr Colmán Etchtingham and Dr Raghnall Ó Floinn, amongst others. The story is told via interviews in Irish, Norwegian and Icelandic with English subtitles, animated sequences and live enactments.
Don’t miss this opportunity to experience this documentary and better understand the history we share with our Nordic neighbours.
