Dave Swift of Claíomh (who is an expert in Irish living history and military heritage) will be hosting an interpretive demonstration in full medieval costume, along with a series of talks, on the topic of material culture of Late Medieval Ireland (c.1400-1600). Reproductions of weapons and armour, and other artefacts, will be on display to the general public.
There will be three informative 30 minute talks taking place at 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm, with the aid of accurate, high quality replicas, which promise to bring different aspects of Ireland’s Medieval past to life.
The event takes place between 12 noon and 4.30pm in the foyer of the office of Galway Civic Trust, beside the ruins of the Hall of the Red Earl.
Dave’s company Claíomh (which is the Gaelic word for “sword”) is dedicated to recreating an authentic representation of Irish history.
