A Special Thanks from Galway Civic Trust / Dúchas na Gaillimhe to Skylight 47, for a great evening of poetry readings at the Hall of the Red Earl. A Fantastic start to Heritage Week 2022.

An enjoyable afternoon of poetry and words to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the West of Ireland.

Galway-based poets and co-editors of Skylight 47, Ruth Quinlan and Bernie Crawford will be joined by two frequent contributors to the magazine, poets Ciarán O’Rourke and Art Ó’Súilleabháin.

Each of the poets will read poems that resonate with the themes of heritage: exploring the lore of places, our connection with them and their traditions, Irish myths, and the importance of nature and language.

The first issue of Skylight 47 was published in January 2013 to celebrate ten years of Galway’s Over the Edge poetry readings in the City Library. The editors have changed since then and Bernie Crawford, Nicki Griffin and Ruth Quinlan are now at the helm of the publication. Skylight 47 is still associated with Over the Edge, which provides tremendous support. Issue 16 of the magazine will be launched this September and in January 2023, Skylight 47 will celebrate its tenth anniversary.
