Gerard D’Arcy – Chairman
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Gerard worked with a semi-state organisation as a building services engineer for over 40 years. In the last 15 years his emphasis has been mainly on renewable\u00a0 \u00a0energy for domestic, commercial, industrial and community buildings. Gerard is semi-retired at the moment and has continued carrying out some engineering work,\u00a0 mostly on a voluntary basis. He is a Board member of the Galway Civic Trust and acting treasurer, an EI chartered engineer and holder of a BComm \u00a0(UCG) and MSc Mechanical Engineering (Brunel University, London).<\/p>\n

Gerard has worked with communities throughout the Gaeltacht on renewable energy projects over the last fifteen years, provided mentorship to graduate engineers from NUIG, GMIT, SIT and LIT. He has worked extensively with communities on SEAI grant applications. Gerard is a past member of the Galway Cathedral Gospel Choir and the Tribe Tones choir, he helped to establish a new community choir in September 2021 with a main\u00a0 emphasis on mental wellness.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"\"Peter is a dedicated director and trustee of Galway Civic Trust, bringing a deep passion for heritage preservation and community engagement. A founding member of B\u00e1d\u00f3ir\u00ed an Chladaigh, Peter has played a central role in reviving and sustaining Galway\u2019s traditional maritime culture, particularly the restoration and sailing of the iconic Galway Hooker. With decades of experience in cultural heritage and local activism, Peter continues to champion initiatives that celebrate Galway\u2019s unique history and strengthen its community roots.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Declan O’Shea<\/p><\/div>\n

Declan is an IT professional who returned to third level education as a mature student, achieving a\u00a0 degree in IT and Archaeology from the National University of Ireland, Galway. Declan has a special interest in vernacular farm architecture and the streetscapes of Irish towns. His technical career began as an engineer with the US Navy in San Diego. He traveled extensively before returning to Ireland and finally settling down in Galway.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
